FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Re: Virginia State University Hazing by "Men of Honor" The Men of Honor and Ladies of Honor, a Rowlett-based character education program, is issuing this statement to clarify that our organization has no affiliation whatsoever with the Men of Honor group at Virginia State University, or with any of the individuals involved, or with anything so unspeakably cruel as hazing. "Our hearts go out to the family who lost their son so needlessly," said TMOH Founder and President Tony Rorie, who has mentored hundreds of boys and young men, driven by the urge to prevent such tragic endings. The Men and Ladies of Honor was founded ten years ago in Dallas, Texas, as a strategic program to train and mentor youth to realize their full potential. Youth who participate are mentored and trained in principles of honor, chivalry, integrity, courageous leadership, and moral excellence using a three-pronged strategy of camps, conferences, and weekly curriculum based meetings in schools, churches, and recreation centers. The character education program, which now as an international outreach, provides a structured leadership development path for boys and girls ages 11-17, with incentives to set and achieve better short term and long term goals. The after-school program is making waves in the public school arena with a typical outcome of 48-58% decreases in campus disciplinary rates. "It's absolutely astounding that anyone who would exercise or even tolerate such cruelty and disregard for life would dare to use the word 'Honor' to describe themselves or their group," said TMOH founder and President, Tony Rorie. "True honor has everything to do with how you treat others."
